History
The Dragon Boat Festival honors Qu Yuan, a patriotic poet who drowned himself in the Miluo River after his homeland was conquered. Locals raced boats to save him and threw rice into the river to distract fish from his body, which led to the tradition of dragon boat races and eating zongzi.

Contribution
The festival preserves the memory of Qu Yuan and promotes teamwork and athleticism through dragon boat racing. It also highlights traditional Chinese medicine and food culture.
